Ethics in Practise: the uses and pitfalls of technology and social media

The Wellington Branch Ethics Committee invites practitioners to a panel discussion on the above topic with panelists Privacy Commissioner, John Edwards; Wellington Barrister, Lisa Hansen and Academic and Barrister, Bianca Mueller.

Identity Conference 2015

Bianca Mueller was invited to speak at the Identity Conference 2015. This international event will focus on sharing leadership and practical experience around digital identity and privacy. The theme of the conference is Enabling Digital Identity and Privacy in a Connected World. Bianca Mueller will be a presenter at the ‘The world of sensors and the Internet of Things’ workstream. The conference is co-hosted by the Department of Internal Affairs, the Office of the Privacy Commissioner, and Victoria University of Wellington. The conference will be held in Wellington on Monday 18 May 2015 and Tuesday 19 May 2015. The conference will be particularly of interest to anyone who wants to broaden their knowledge and understanding of leadership, practical experience, opportunities and challenges around using digital identity and privacy as enablers in an increasingly connected world. The powerpoint presentation is available here and an excerpt of the conference handbook is available here.

Cocktail function in honour of Chancellor Dr. Angela Merkel

The chancellor of the Federal Republic of Germany, Dr. Angela Merkel will visit New Zealand on November 14 ahead of the G20 talks in Brisbane. It will be the first visit by a German Chancellor since 1997. The New Zealand German Business Association is hosting a cocktail event in honour of Dr. Angela Merkel.

Dr. Angela Merkel was elected to office in 2005 making her the longest serving national leader in the European Union. Cloud Computing Seminar in Auckland

In cooperation with Zeald, New Zealand’s leading website company, the New Zealand German Business Association organised a workshop on how to successfully navigate in the changing landscape of the world wide web in Auckland on 14th August 2014. In his presentation, Alex Geraghty, e-Business Consultant at Zeald, outlined how a well-designed functional website can actively support a company’s business.

In the second part, the attention was turned to the red-hot topic of cloud security. Bianca Mueller, Managing Director of Law Down Under, a law firm specialised in IT and Internet law, highlighted the very real legal compliance and security risks when storing data in the cloud.
